Thunder Hockey Team Participates in Movember

November 17, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Wichita Thunder News Release

WICHITA, KS - The Wichita Thunder hockey team has gotten themselves into a hairy situation.

The team, along with other men across the globe involved with the Movember movement, is spending the month of November growing mustaches to bring awareness to men's health issues. The cause specifically spotlights prostate cancer.

Participants grow mustaches and ask for donations to sponsor their efforts. So far, the team has raised over $400.

Movember has inspired over 1.1 million men to grow mustaches and raise over $80 million for men's health.

Adam Russo, goaltender for the Wichita Thunder, got the team involved with the movement.

"I've had a lot of cancer run in my family," said Russo. "I think it's a great cause for my team and I to support. "

Money raised is distributed between The Prostate Cancer Foundation, LIVESTRONG and Movember's education program on men's health.

To donate to the Movember movement, you can visit the Thunder's Movember page at MoBro.co/WichitaThunder.

To see their mustaches in person, you can see the Thunder team as they take on the Tulsa Oilers on November 19 at 7:05 p.m. Tickets start at just $12. For more information or to order season tickets, call the Thunder office at (316) 264-GOAL, call (316) 755-SEAT for game tickets, or visit us online at www.wichitathunder.com.
