Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Arizona - The Brahmas beat the Sundogs 2-1 in Arizona Thursday night, extending their winning streak to five.

Texas got their first goal of the night on Kyle Howarth's first goal of the season at the 8:23 mark of the opening period.

The Sundogs lone goal was scored by Luke Erickson just nine seconds into a powerplay following an Erik Spady tripping penalty to tie the game at one early in the second period.

The Brahmas game-winning goal also came on a Sundogs powerplay. After a hooking penalty on Phil Fox, the Brahmas scored their first shorthanded goal of the season as T.J. Fox beat everyone on the ice to a loose puck and found Jordan Kary wide open for an easy score right in front of the net. For Kary, it was his team high tenth point of the season.

Brahmas goalie Mark Guggenberger was a brick wall, stopping 30 of the 31 shots he faced en route to his third victory in as many starts this season. Arizona netminder Levente Szuper was also stingy in net, saving 29 Brahmas shots.

Brahmas all-time leading points leader Chad Woollard did not play Thursday night due to illness.

The Brahmas have won five straight games, and six of their last seven contests. Texas and Arizona meet again Friday night for the second of a three game series in Prescott Valley.
