Thunder Falls One Second Short

LOVELAND, CO- The Wichita Thunder were edged 2-1 by the Colorado Eagles on Saturday night at the Budweiser Event Center. Eagles forward Konrad Reeder scored the game-winning goal at 14:07 in the third period to break a 1-1 tie. Thunder defenseman Bryan Nathe punched in a rebound past Colorado goaltender Morgan Cey as the buzzer sounded, but time had expired in the third period, allowing the Ealges to hold on for the win.

Aaron Schneekloth scored on a one-timer at 0:41 in the second for the first goal of the night. Jason Duda tied the game at 6:23 in the third period, getting assists from Troy Ofukany and Andrew Davis. Joel Hanson nearly tied the game in the final second of the second period, hitting the left post as time ran out.

Krister Toews took the loss, saving 33 of 35, while Cey picked up the win saving 33 of 34. Wichita went 0 for 9 on the power play. The Thunder penalty kill unit was 2 for 3.
