Wichita Thunder News Release

The Wichita Thunder went 0-3-0 last week, beginning with a 3-1 loss to the Rapid City Rush on Wednesday night at the Kansas Coliseum. Colt King's two goals proved enough offense, while Miguel Beaudry saved 18 of 19 for the win. Jordan Little scored his first goal of the season in the third period for Wichita's lone tally. Jon Horrell stopped 16 of 19 in the loss.

The Thunder fell 4-1 to the Missouri Mavericks on Friday night at the Independence Events Center. Four different Missouri players had goals, while former Thunder defenseman Andrew Davis chipped in two assists. Doug Groenestege improved to 10-0-0 lifetime against the Thunder, saving 25 of 26. Joel Hanson netted Wichita's lone goal in the second period. Scott Campbell saved 36 of 40 shots in the loss.

The Thunder dropped a 5-2 decision to the Amarillo Gorillas back at home on Saturday night. Jake Moriessette and Joe Guenther potted two goals each. Austin Sutter had two assists. Mike Kneeland and Jason Deleurme scored the Thunder's goals. Mike Brown saved 34 of 36 for the win, his second against Wichita this season. Jon Horrell stopped 22 of 27 in the loss.

Detulleo Stays Hot

Veteran center Glenn Detulleo has 12 points and is +1 in his last nine games. During that stretch, Detulleo had a six-game point streak, the longest of the season for a Thunder skater, and also has a point in each of his last two games.

Rough and Tumble Kovalcik

Despite having played in just six games due to an early season knee injury, defenseman Chris Kovalcik already ranks third on the Thunder with 44 PIM, including four fighting majors. Kovalcik finished fifth in the CHL last season with 24 major penalties while playing for the Tulsa Oilers. The Armada, MI native also contributed his first assist of the season on Saturday night.

Hanson Steady Again

Right wing Joel Hanson has scored six goals in his last nine games, and is +4 during that span. Hanson scored 33 points in 39 games for the Thunder last season.

Deleurme Raking in Points

Jason Deleurme has scored at least one point in five of seven games since joining the Thunder. Deleurme has seven total points and two multi-point games. The veteran has a point in each of his last two contests.

Offense From Defense

Mark Adamek and Jim Jorgensen continue to add offense from the blue line. Adamek has four points in his last five games, while Jorgensen has five points in his last nine games. Just 18 games into the season, Adamek is only two points shy of his career-best of 12, accomplished in each of the last two seasons with the ECHL's Stockton Thunder.

Minutes for Campbell

Rookie goaltender Scott Campbell ranks fifth in the CHL with 719:57 minutes played. Campbell has appeared in 12 games this season and owns a 3.25 goals against average and an.897 save percentage. Campbell's career-highs are 16 games played and 921 minutes, both set during his junior year at Lake Forest College in 2007-08.

PIM Leaders

Right wing Mike Batovanja is tied for the league lead with eight major penalties, seven of which are fighting majors. Chris McAllister leads the CHL with 22 minors and leads all defensemen with 64 total PIM.

Kneeland Among Rookie Leaders

Left wing Mike Kneeland scored his fourth goal of the season on Saturday night and ranks fourth in the league in goals amongst rookies.

Injury Update

Kyle Bruce remains on the 14-Day IR with a groin injury and is eligible to return at anytime. Jason Duda is on the 30-Day IR with a back injury and is also eligible to return. Tim Boron is on the Goaltender IR, still recovering from offseason hip surgery. Brandon Kaleniecki is considered day-to-day after being scratched on Saturday with a rib cage injury.
