
Bourbeau Wins It In Overtime For Odessa

(Odessa, TX) - Jean Bourbeau's deflection in overtime capped off a four games in five night stretch for the Odessa Jackalopes as they beat the Amarillo Gorillas, 4-3, at the Ector County Coliseum on Sunday. The Jackalopes did not score a power play goal in the win, bringing their streak to an end at 17 straight games with a power play goal.
After trailing 3-1, the Gorillas forced overtime on a pair of goals in the final six minutes of regulation on goals from Jason Beeman and Shaun Arvai to make the score 3-3.
Brian Swiniarski made his season debut for Odessa and opened up the scoring at 3:30 of the first period with a wrist shot between the top of the circles. Mike Ramsay and Dominic Leveille added the assists to make it 1-0 Jackalopes. The Gorillas tied the game with a two-on-one rush as David Nimmo banged home a rebound at 10:12 on assists from Shaun Arvai and Joe Guenther. The first period ended with a 1-1 score.
Swiniarski added another goal for Odessa at 2:30 of the second period to regain the lead for Odessa. Leveille and Ramsay again had the assists. The Jackalopes took a 3-1 lead when Michael Grenzy scored his first of the season at 15:15 with a backhand shot from the right circle. Swiniarski and Ramsay added the helpers. Those were the only two goals of the period.
The win was Odessa's first in overtime this season and Juha Toivonen's seventh overall. He stopped 31 shots. Odessa's record is now 15-3-2 on the season.
The Jackalopes return to the ice on Friday to start a home-and-home series with the Laredo Bucks. Game time is 7:05 PM and the action can be heard on 102.1 Jack FM.
