Odessa Jackalopes News Release


(Odessa, TX) - The Central Hockey League has made an adjustment to Odessa's schedule for this week, changing this Friday's game to be against the Laredo Bucks instead of the Arizona Sundogs.

Last Week's Record: 3-1-0

Overall Record: 15-3-2

Wednesday @ Texas, 5-3 Win

It was Odessa's first win against the Brahmas this season in their first trip to the NYTEX Sports Centre. Five different players scored for Odessa while Joel Martin made 30 saves in net.

Friday vs. Allen, 5-4 Loss

A power play goal with four seconds left in the second period by Justin Bowers proved to be the difference for the expansion Allen Americans. Each team scored a power play and a shorthanded goal in the game.

Saturday vs. Rio Grande Valley 3-2 (SO) Win

Mike Ramsay's power play goal late in the third period forced overtime, then he and Phil Plante each scored shootout goals for the Jackalopes. Joel Martin stopped all four Killer Bees shooters to seal the win.

Sunday vs. Amarillo, 4-3 (OT) Win

Brian Swiniarski made his season debut after missing the first 19 games of the season due to injury. He scored a pair of goals and added an assist. Jean Bourbeau deflected home the game winner in overtime.

It's Odessa's first home-and-home series of the year. The first meeting of the season ended in a 4-3 shootout win for the Jackalopes. The two teams will meet at the Ector County Coliseum for the first time since game five of last season's Southern Conference Semifinals when Odessa eliminated the Bucks in six games.

The Odessa Jackalopes are the Central Hockey League affiliate for the NHL's New York Islanders and the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
