Thunder Drop Second Straight to Akron

April 13, 2010 - Eastern League (EL1)
Trenton Thunder News Release

Trenton, NJ- Inconsistent starting pitching and untimely hitting was the theme for the Thunder, as they dropped their second game in a row to the Akron Aeros, 4-2 on Tuesday Night at Waterfront Park. With the loss, the Thunder fall to 4-2.

RHP Lance Pendleton made his first start of 2010 and it did not go the way Pendleton planned. The righty gave up 4 runs on 6 hits in 3.2 innings pitched. The damage was done early, as Akron first baseman Beau Mills belted a 3-run home run in the top of the 1st inning off Pendleton.

The Thunder would get one run right back in the bottom half of the 1st inning, when Austin Krum reached on an error committed by Aeros shortstop Josh Rodriguez. He would later steal second and eventually score on a ground-out by Austin Romine.

Akron continued their hard hitting off Pendleton in the second inning. They added another run on 3 hits in the inning. The Thunder would cut the lead in half in the 6th inning when David Adams scored on another Romine groundout. Trenton had multiple chances to come back, but could not pull through, as they left 4 runners in scoring position after the 5th inning.

Daniel Brewer finished the night 2x4 with a stolen base. Austin Romine was credited with 2 RBI.

Trenton and Akron conclude their three game series tomorrow morning. First pitch is scheduled for 10:35 AM.
