With several runs down the stretch, the Portland Sea Dogs extended a 6-4 lead late in Game 1 of Saturday's split double-header for a comfortable 9-4 win over the Trenton Thunder at ARM & HAMMER Park.

The Sea Dogs trailed the Thunder 2-1 in the top of the fourth inning, but they scored five runs to take the lead for good in the first of two seven-inning ballgames Saturday.

The Thunder trailed 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning, but scored a pair of unearned runs off starting pitcher Keith Couch to snatch an early lead. After Peter O'Brien reached on a throwing error by third baseman Sean Coyle to score Mason Williams, Rob Refsnyder slugged an RBI triple to plate O'Brien.

Refsnyder's triple was his fifth of the season- and third in the last week- to tie him for the Eastern League lead with Altoona's Alen Hanson. Refsnyder finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored and has gone 35-for-85 (.412 AVG) in his last 22 games since May 7th.

The loss goes to Graham Stoneburner who allowed seven runs (4 ER) in 5.1 IP on nine hits and two walks.

Game 2 of the double-header is scheduled for a 7:05 first pitch with post-game fireworks to immediately follow the conclusion of the ballgame. Limited tickets are available for the nightcap by calling (609)394-3300 or by going to www.trentonthunder.com/tickets.
