Thunder Attendance Up Early
April 15, 2010 - Eastern League (EL1)
Trenton Thunder News Release
(Trenton, NJ) Seven games are in the books for the Trenton Thunder, Double A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, and attendance is up 9.2% over the first seven games played in 2009.
The Thunder attracted 31,886 fans to Waterfront Park in the first seven game homestand of 2010, played April 8-11 vs. the Erie SeaWolves (Detroit Tigers) and April 12-14 vs. the Akron Aeros (Cleveland Indians). Trenton currently ranks 5th in Minor League Baseball for overall attendance for teams in the Double-A classification or lower. In 2009, during the same number of games played, attendance stood at 29,197.
"Great promotions and beautiful weather made the first week a lot of fun to be at the ballpark," said Thunder General Manager Will Smith. "We have received so much positive feedback from fans about everything from the food we serve to the atmosphere in the stadium that this is shaping up to be a wonderful season."
On the field, the Thunder are off to a 5-2 start.
The Thunder play 71 home games per season, so this seven game sample represents roughly 10% of the home schedule.
The Thunder are on the road to Portland (April 15-18) and New Hampshire (April 19-21) before returning to Waterfront Park on Thursday, April 22 to face the Portland Sea Dogs (Boston Red Sox) in a four game weekend series.
