Sublett's Homer Lifts Thunder in 11 Innings

Portland, ME- A two-run home run by Damon Sublett gave the Thunder a dramatic 11 inning win over the Portland Sea Dogs on Thursday night at Hadlock Field. With the win, Trenton improves to 6-2.

The Thunder were able to strike first off Portland starter Kyle Weiland. After striking out five through the first two innings, Weiland walked Justin Snyder on four straight pitches. After retiring the next two batters, Austin Romine knocked a RBI double off the leftfield wall, and Snyder came around to score to make it 1-0 Trenton.

In the top of the fifth, the Thunder loaded the bases with no outs after a Kevin Smith double, Justin Snyder walk, and Austin Krum single. However, they would only get one run to score in the inning, after David Adams hit into a double play and Austin Romine grounded out to shortstop.

Portland got on the board in the bottom half of the fifth inning . Jose Iglesias led off with a double, and then scored on a single by Jason Place. After Trenton went down in order in the top of the sixth, the Sea Dogs tied the game at two when Lars Anderson scored on an RBI single by Yamaico Navarro.

Both bullpens kept the score tied through nine, with neither team getting a hit through the last two innings. In the 11th inning, Brandon Laird hit a one-out single into leftfield, and the next batter, Damon Sublett connected on a 2-run home run over the left field wall to put the Thunder ahead 4-2. It was Sublett's second home run in as many days. RHP Eric Wordekemper pitched a 1-2-3 11th inning to secure the win.

Jeremy Bleich pitched six innings and allowed two runs on four hits and struck out three. Wilkin De La Rosa was perfect in three innings pitched. Wordekemper also pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the 10th inning.

The Thunder and Sea Dogs continue their four game series on Friday night from Hadlock Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6PM.
