Adirondack Thunder News Release
GLENS FALLS, N.Y. - The Adirondack Thunder announced today that they will team up with Hannaford Supermarkets to support holiday hunger relief efforts with a food drive on Saturday, December 1 when the Thunder host the Reading Royals at Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls, NY. The food drive will get underway at 5:30 p.m. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m.
Fans attending the game are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item, which will be donated to the Greater Glens Falls Salvation Army and Open Door Mission. The collection will take place in the main lobby of the arena. Volunteers will accept donations through 7:30 p.m.
Fans who donate a non-perishable item will receive a voucher for a free ticket to the Thunder game on December 28 against the Manchester Monarchs. The voucher may be redeemed at the Thunder office or Upstate Chevy Dealers Box Office at Cool Insuring Arena.
"Hannaford is committed to fighting hunger within the communities we serve and we are honored to partner with the Adirondack Thunder on this initiative. We hope this effort will enable the Greater Glens Falls Salvation Army and Open Door Mission to provide for families this holiday season," said Hannaford Supermarkets Community Relations Specialist Brian Fabre. "We encourage fans to join us for a night of great hockey action while supporting these critical community organizations."
"We are very excited to host our annual food drive to support and help out the Glens Falls community," Thunder President Jeff Mead said. "We are also happy to add Hannaford Supermarkets as a presenting sponsor for the night to help expand the reach and increase the spread of our donations. Each year of our food drive has seen an increased donation total and we hope to continue that trend this year with everyone's support."
Fans may purchase tickets to the December 1 game by visiting ECHLThunder.com, calling 518-480-3355 or stopping into the Thunder office or Upstate Chevy Dealers Box Office at Cool Insuring Arena.
The Thunder return to the ice this weekend for a pair of games. The team travels to Manchester to take on the Monarchs Friday night before they return home for Saturday's contest and the non-perishable food drive!
