Omaha Lancers News Release
OMAHA, NE. - The Fargo Force paid a visit to Ralston Arena on Friday (10/22) to take on the Lancers after both teams split the weekend prior. No one knew what to expect heading into this matchup, as both teams came in with similar stats and records.
The first period had all it's action packed into the first five minutes. With a goal from Cade Ahrenholz, with the assist from Alex Bump just four minutes in, followed by Felikss Gavars finding the back of the net just 30 seconds later, we were tied at one goal a side less than five minutes in. Besides a few penalties picked up by the Lancers, the rest of the first period led to nothing but a 1-1 tie.
The second period was electric for Omaha. Just 4:30 into the period, Garrett Wright picked up the go-ahead goal off a feed from Ethan Elias to go up 2-1. This goal would also end up being the game-winner.
Just seven minutes later, Cam Mitchell netted his second goal of the season off a beautiful play set up by Alex Bump and Jared Wright to take a 3-1 lead, which is how to period concluded.
That goal gave Cam Mitchell his second goal in as many games.
The third period started off hot as Garrett Wright scored a shorthanded goal making it his second goal of the night and his fourth goal in three games to take the 4-1 lead just 30 seconds into the final period.
With Cam Mitchell picking up the assist on Garrett Wright's second goal, that gave Wright, Mitchell and Bump multipoint nights.
The last 19 minutes of the third brought some minor penalties, Nolan Hayes fighting Tyler Rollwagen and many other scoring chances for both teams. But the game concluded in a 4-1 victory for the Lancers.
This win improves the Lancers' record to 3-3-1 on the season and drops Fargo to 3-2-0-1.
The Lancers will be back in action tomorrow night against Fargo for the second game of the two-game weekend series. Puck is set to drop at 6:05 PM at Ralston Arena, and that game can be caught on Mixlr and HockeyTV.
