Houston Dynamo FC News Release

HOUSTON - The Houston Dynamo kickoff a two-game road trip this evening as they visit New York City FC at Yankee Stadium.

Houston looks to bounce back after falling 1-0 to the Chicago Fire last Saturday. The Dynamo were held scoreless at home for the second consecutive game and enter Thursday's game with one victory in their last three matches.

The victory came in Houston's last match away from BBVA Stadium where the Dynamo jumped out to an early lead against Toronto FC and earned a 3-1 victory. Houston will look to Mauro Manotas and Romell Quioto to spark an offense that has scored three goals in the last three games. Alberth Elis will not be available tonight due to a suspension for yellow accumulation.

The all-time series is tied with a 1-1-2 record after Houston defeated New York City 3-1 at BBVA Stadium last year with goals from Elis, Alejandro Fuenmayor and Tomas Martinez. This is the second meeting between both clubs at Yankee Stadium and Houston have secured two points from their previous outings to the East Coast.

New York look to qualify for the postseason for the fourth consecutive year and forward Heber and midfielder Maxi Moralez have led the charge combining for 15 goals and 16 assists this season. Defensively, Sean Johnson has earned six clean sheets for New York who currently sit in fifth place in the Eastern Conference.

The Dynamo will remain on the East Coast as they travel to Pennsylvania on Sunday to face the Philadelphia Union at 5 p.m. at Talen Energy Stadium.

CHASING POINTS ON THE ROAD - The Dynamo aim to makeup points on the road as they travel for seven out of their last 11 matches in the regular season. A victory at Yankee Stadium would give Houston its third road victory of the season, the most since the 2014 MLS regular season. The club record for most regular season victories on the road was set in 2007 when the Dynamo finished with a 7-5-3 record.

DEADLINE ADDITIONS - Houston announced that Christian Ramirez will join the club from LAFC and Niko Hansen would join the Dynamo from the Columbus Crew at the deadline of the second MLS transfer window. Ramirez and Hansen join Chilean defender Jose Bizama as new pieces acquired during the window and look to push Houston into the playoffs for the first time since 2017. Ramírez has earned two caps with the United States Men's National Team, both this year, and has scored one goal at the senior international level. The 28-year-old has scored 27 goals in his four-year MLS career, including a career-high 14 in 2017 with Minnesota United FC. This season, Ramírez has played a key role for the league's top-scoring team, banging in four goals and adding two assists in 17 appearances. Hansen has scored four goals and contributed five assists in three seasons in Major League Soccer, all with Columbus. The winger helped Crew SC advance to the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs in each of his first two seasons, seeing action in both of Columbus' playoff games.

NEW YORK DOMINANT AT YANKEE STADIUM - New York City FC lost 3-1 to Real Salt Lake in Utah last Saturday but enter Thursday's game with two victories in their last three matches. Midfielder Maxi Moralez, who leads the team in assists with 13, did not play in Utah after a 30-minute shift in the MLS All-Star game. New York currently sit in fifth place in the Eastern Conference and have earned a significant portion of their points at home with a 5-1-4 record at Yankee Stadium.
