Three Points: Dynamo Wrap up Home Slate against Seattle Sunday
October 21, 2018 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Houston Dynamo FC News Release
HOUSTON - The Houston Dynamo will celebrate their fans on Sunday afternoon as they wrap up the 2018 home schedule against Seattle Sounders FC at 4 p.m. CDT. for Friend Appreciation Day presented by Bud Light. As part of the celebration, the first 2,500 fans through the gates will receive TWO free Dynamo-branded koozies (one for you, one for a friend) courtesy of Bud Light.
At halftime of the match, the Dynamo will celebrate their 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup championship by unveiling the championship banner. The Dynamo defeated the Philadelphia Union 3-0 in the Open Cup Final on Wednesday, Sept. 26 to capture their first title in the annual knockout tournament. Talented speed painter Dan Dunn will perform on the field prior to the banner unveiling, creating a custom work of art in the span of a few minutes to commemorate the championship.
After the game, 30 lucky fans will be invited to the field to receive the game-worn, autographed jersey from one of their favorite Dynamo players as part of the club's annual Jersey Off Our Backs giveaway.

HERE ARE THREE KEY POINTS YOU'LL NEED TO KNOW AS YOU PREPARE FOR TOMORROW'S GAME:
CHASING SCORING RECORDS - The Dynamo have scored 53 goals through 32 games this season, an average of 1.66 per game on the year. They are four goals shy of the club single-season scoring record of 57 set a year ago. With two games left, and with a home scoring average of 2.13 goals per game, tomorrow could be crucial in the team's attempt to set a new productivity mark. Leading scorer Mauro Manotas has already set the club single-season record with 16 goals, which leaves him four away from potentially becoming the 22nd player in league history to bag 20 goals in a single season.
OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY SPOILER - Houston was mathematically eliminated from playoff contention earlier this month when they lost 4-1 at Seattle on Oct. 8. However, while the Dynamo can't secure their own spot in the 2018 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs, they can have an impact on how the playoff field takes shape. Seattle currently sits in fourth place on 53 points, just two ahead of fifth-place Portland. The difference between fourth and fifth is massive, as it means the difference between hosting and going on the road for a single-elimination Knockout Round match. For two teams like Portland and Seattle, each of whom enjoys tremendous support from their home crowds, that difference is massive. A Houston win could spoil Seattle's chances at earning that four seed and make their road to a third straight MLS Cup Final that much more difficult.
ELIS ON THE EDGE - Dynamo forward Alberth Elis has enjoyed a breakout year in his second MLS campaign. Not only did he earn his first trip to the MLS All-Star Game this summer, he's emerged as one of the most dangerous attacking threats in the league with 11 goals and nine assists on the year. His 20 combined goals and assists are tied for the most in a single season in club history, matching club legend Brad Davis' totals from 2011 and 2012. Elis could put himself past Davis' best seasons if he can contribute to one more goal this year, which would give him a new club record.
