Houston Dynamo FC News Release

HOUSTON - The Houston Dynamo return to BBVA Stadium after a 10-day, cross-country road trip on Wednesday night to host the New York Red Bulls.

Houston enters the match with a favorable 5-2-5 record in Texas against New York, which includes back-to-back victories over the Red Bulls at home in 2015 and 2017. Houston will look to generate momentum after a challenging stretch away from BBVA Stadium that saw the club go winless in three consecutive matches.

Midfielder Darwin Ceren snapped a four-game scoreless streak for the Dynamo away from BBVA Stadium with his one-touch volley in the first half of Saturday's 2-1 loss to New England. Ceren and Romell Quioto returned to the starting lineup after returning to the club from international duty.

Here are three key points ahead of tonight's game:

STALWART RETURNS - Dynamo head coach Wilmer Cabrera will look for experience in the backline as they face an explosive Red Bulls offense that has scored 30 goals this season, second most in the Eastern Conference. Honduran defender Maynor Figueroa will be key to containing the Red Bulls offense and looks to return to the starting lineup for the first time since June 1. The Dynamo have conceded seven goals in three league games since Figueroa's last appearance. Houston averaged 1.08 goals conceded through the first 13 league matches that featured the Honduran international.

DYNAMIC DUO - Offensively, Houston will look to Alberth Elis and Mauro Manotas for goals as both players have missed the starting lineup over the last five games across all competitions for international duty and travel. The duo have combined for 11 goals and 10 assists this season and look to return to the Starting XI for the first time since June 1, where Elis secured a draw for Houston with his fifth goal of the season in the 69th minute.

RED BULLS RACK UP GOALS - New York enters the match with an 8-6-3 record on Wednesday after they defeated the Chicago Fire 3-1 at Red Bull Arena on June 28. With the victory, the Red Bulls have won three out of their last five games in all competitions and sit in fifth place in the Eastern Conference. Brian White and Daniel Royer have combined for nine goals for the Red Bulls in the absence of Bradley Wright-Phillips as he rehabbed a groin injury for two months. The two-time Golden Boot winner returned to action on June 28 coming off the bench for his first shift since late April.
