February 9, 2011 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Rochester Knighthawks News Release
(Rochester, NY)... Three Rochester Knighthawks were honored by the National Lacrosse League today for their contributions to the K-Hawks' 11-6 win last Saturday against the Philadelphia Wings. Jordan Hall was awarded the Transition Player of the Week, while Jamieson grabbed Rookie of the Week accolades and Shawn Evans garnered Overall Player of the Week honors.
Hall scored three times and added one assist in his Knighthawks debut. Hall was acquired third overall in the dispersal draft of Orlando Titans players this offseason. He returned to the turf last Saturday after undergoing successful surgery in December to repair a sports hernia. It was quite the debut for No. 20.
"I thought the guys were giving me some looks and hitting me while I was cutting," said Hall. "I am happy with the way things went."
"Jordan was really good. We have been waiting for him to come back," said Knighthawks Head Coach Mike Hasen. "He created space for guys and when he had the opportunity he buried it. He gave our team a boost."
Shawn Evans had a historic night, leading the way with 10 points including a career-best nine assists. Evans leads the Knighthawks with 25 points and is tied for eighth in the NLL with 18 assists. He also passed Duane Jacobs for fourth all-time on the Knighthawks' assist list. Despite the 10 points, the six-year pro was most happy for the fans.
"It was great and the fans deserved a win," said Evans. "It was great to have the crowd behind us. It was a different atmosphere out there."
Cody Jamieson chipped in one goal and two assists and now lead all rookies in points with 18 (13+5). The award is the third Rookie of the Week honor that Jamieson has won this season. The former No. 1 pick has recorded 10 goals and five assists in his last four games.
The Knighthawks will try to earn their first winning streak of the season this weekend as the Minnesota Swarm buzz into town. On Saturday, February 12 th, the first 3,000 fans will take home a Cody Jamieson bobblehead. The 7:35 p.m. game will be broadcast on 94.1 The Zone and thezone941.com.
