Knighthawks' Forward Shawn Evans Named Player Of The Week

Rochester Knighthawks forward Shawn Evans is the National Lacrosse League's Overall Player of the Week for the games played on February 4th and 5th, Week #5 of the 2011 season. Evans was a major contributor in the Knighthawks' 11-6 win over the Philadelphia Wings this past Saturday. He contributed on 10 of Rochester's 11 goals, scoring 1 goal and assisting on 9 others for a ten point game. He also collected 5 loose balls and forced 2 turnovers that led to Knighthawks goals.

Two of Evans' teammates also were honored for their performances this past weekend. Jordan Hall won the Transition Player of the Week Award. Hall made his season debut on Saturday after recovering from an injury. Playing his first career game in a Knighthawks uniform, Hall recorded 3 goals and an assist, and collected 3 loose balls. Cody Jamieson was voted as Rookie of the Week. He had a goal and 2 assists, while collecting 3 loose balls in the victory over the Wings.

Blazers forward Dan Dawson received Offensive Player of the Week honors with his performance in a 9-7 win over the Toronto Rock. He posted 3 goals and 2 assists in a game that was dominated by defense. Washington Stealth goaltender Tyler Richards was awarded Defensive Player of the Week. He had 52 saves on 60 shots in the Stealth 10-8 road victory against the Colorado Mammoth.

The Weekly Awards are determined by a vote of the General Managers and Head Coaches of the league's ten member clubs.
