Spokane Chiefs News Release
SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs announced today that three current players are expected to participate in National Hockey League camps later this week. Forward Adam Helewka will attend San Jose Sharks camp, defenseman Jason Fram return to Calgary Flames camp and defenseman Evan Fiala will head to Florida Panthers camp.
Helewka was drafted by the Sharks in the fourth round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft this past summer after a 44-goal, 87-point 2014-15 campaign with the Chiefs. He joined notable former Chiefs Ray Whitney, Pat Falloon and Kerry Toporowski as Chiefs drafted by San Jose. San Jose's camp kicks off with a pair of rookie exhibition games against the Anaheim Ducks on Sept. 12-13 at the SAP Center in San Jose.
Fram, the Chiefs' 2014-15 team captain and second-leading scorer with nine goals and 62 points, returns to Calgary Flames camp as an undrafted invitee for the second year. Fram, originally an eighth round WHL Bantam Draft selection by the Chiefs in 2010, earned the Flames' attention following his 57-point 2013-14 season. The Flames begin on-ice sessions on Sept. 11 in Penticton, B.C. for the Young Stars Classic as they'll take on the Winnipeg Jets.
Fiala earned an invitation to Florida Panthers rookie development camp earlier this summer, joining 25 other players with a mix of drafted and undrafted prospects. The big defenseman will participate in a four-team tournament at Germain Arena in Estero, Fla. From Saturday, Sept. 12 to Tuesday, Sept. 15. Other teams include the reigning Eastern Conference Champion Tampa Bay Lightning, the Nashville Predators and Washington Capitals.
All three players will miss the Chiefs' two preseason games in Kennewick this week. Spokane will face Portland on Thursday, Sept. 10 and Red Deer on Saturday, Sept. 12. Both games begin at 3 p.m.
The Chiefs will open their regular season against the Tri-City Americans on September 26 with Bud Light Opening Night at Spokane Arena. Individual tickets are on sale now through TicketsWest at (800) 325-SEAT and online at www.ticketswest.com. Tickets packages, including the brand new Saturday Game of the Month package, and group opportunities are available through the Chiefs' Ticket Office at (509) 535-PUCK and online at www.spokanechiefs.com.
