Norfolk Admirals News Release

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Admirals announced today that the American Hockey League (AHL) club has called up forward Alex Krushelnyski and right wing David Pacan. Norfolk has also signed defenseman Aaron Rome to a professional tryout contract.

Krushelnyski, 23, receives his first trip to the AHL after two games this season with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL. In his first two professional games, the rookie forward had an assist in each for two points to begin the season. He played two seasons at the junior level in the United States Hockey League and moved on to Colorado College for four seasons of collegiate hockey.

The 5-foot-11, 173-pounder participated in 158 contests and accumulated 101 points in his career in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and the National Collegiate Hockey Conference. Krushelnyski is from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and is the son of three-time Stanley Cup winner Mike Krushelnyski who played alongside Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier in Edmonton.

Pacan, 23, makes his way back to Norfolk following time spent in the preseason with the Admirals. He was released from his tryout agreement before the regular season and thus became a part of the Cincinnati Cyclones in the ECHL. Pacan assisted on a Cyclones' goal in their season opener to begin his third season as a professional.

The Ottawa local performed at nearly a point-a-game pace as a rookie for Cincinnati and then-head coach Jarrod Skalde in 2012-13 with 14 goals and 52 points in 57 games. That season, Pacan was the club's second-leading scorer in both the regular season and playoffs when he posted nine goals and seven assists to help the Cyclones into the Kelly Cup semifinals. He collected 13 goals and 45 points last season in the ECHL for Kalamazoo and recorded two assists in 12 career AHL games with San Antonio and Utica. Pacan works under the tutelage of Skalde yet again with this call up to Norfolk.

Rome, 31, is a veteran of 226 NHL games and 333 AHL contests. From Brandon, Manitoba, the Los Angeles Kings selected Rome in the fourth round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft and he would eventually make his professional debut in the 2004-05 season with Cincinnati in the AHL. The 6-foot-1, 218-pound defenseman skated in 25 games for Dallas (NHL) last season, including a playoff game as well as eight games for the AHL affiliate, the Texas Stars.

He scored six times and assisted on 22 goals for 28 career NHL points next to 185 career penalty minutes. Last season, he tallied an assist in both the NHL and AHL. Over a 10-year pro career, Rome suited up for Columbus, Vancouver, Dallas and once for Anaheim in the NHL and for Cincinnati, Portland, Syracuse, Manitoba and Texas in the AHL. Rome owns 33 goals and 130 career points in the AHL.

This weekend the Admirals cruise north for their first "three-in-three" this season, consisting of three games in three days. Providence, Springfield and Hartford are on the docket from Friday to Sunday and start times are scheduled for 7:05 p.m., 7 p.m., and 3 p.m., respectively.
