Trayce Thompson drove in four runs with a homer and a double as the Kannapolis Intimidators recorded their second straight win over the Lexington Legends with a 7-3 victory Tuesday night in Kannapolis.

The Legends took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on a double by Roberto Pena and a single by Bryce Lane, but Kannapolis came back with three in the fifth. With one out, Drew Lee and Kenny Gilbert singled. A wild pitch moved the runners to second and third, and with two outs, Thompson's double scored both. Ross Wilson followed with a single to score Thompson, giving Kannapolis a 3-1 lead.

The Legends cut the lead to one in the seventh inning when Tyler Burnett led off with a triple and scored on Delino DeShields Jr.'s double with two outs. DeShields was thrown out trying to stretch the hit into a triple.

Thompson hit his seventh homer of the year with a man on in the bottom of the seventh to give Kannapolis a 5-2 margin.

The Legends got one back in the eighth on Mike Kvasnicka's RBI single, but the Intimidators added two more in the bottom of the eighth. Mike Blanke led off with a double and scored on Juan Silverio's one-out single. Silverio advanced to second on the throw home from the outfield, and when first baseman Burnett, who cut off the throw, threw wide of second for an error, Silverio went to third. He scored on a base hit by Lee, the Mt. Sterling native and former Morehead State star, who is batting .431 for the season. In seven games against Lexington, Lee is 16-for-27 with three homers and 10 RBI. Kannapolis starter Matt Heidenreich (2-1) pitched seven and one-third innings and allowed 11 hits, but got the win. Legends' starter Juan Minaya (0-3) took the loss.

Kannapolis has taken the first two games of the four-game series, which continues with an Education Day game Wednesday. First pitch is set for 10:05 a.m.
