Seattle Storm News Release
On Sunday, June 22, the Storm continued to improve their roster, trading their second round pick in the 2009 WNBA Draft to the Atlanta Dream in exchange for 6-2 forward Camille Little. Through 12 games with the Dream, Little averaged 4.4 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. ABOUT THIS WEEK'S OPPONENTS
LOS ANGELES The 2007 season marked the first time in franchise history that the Storm swept the season series against the Sparks. L.A. was without star center Lisa Leslie all season long due to her pregnancy, and the Storm took advantage throughout the year. Seattle won all four contests by an average of 21.5 points. Both teams have revamped rosters this season, with Leslie's return and the addition of rookie Candace Parker for L.A. and the addition of Yolanda Griffith, Swin Cash and Sheryl Swoopes for Seattle. This is the first game of three during the 2008 season series between these Western Conference foes. The all-time record for Seattle against Los Angeles is 14-14 (8-7 at home; 6-7 on road).
WASHINGTON This is the first meeting of the 2008 season between the Mystics and Storm. The 2007 gave us two very exciting games, with Lauren Jackson's WNBA record-tying 47 points in an overtime loss in Washington and the 23-point blowout win for the Storm at the Key later in the season. The 2007 season was only the second time in franchise history in which the teams split the season series (1-1), the other coming in 2004 (1-1). All-time, the Storm are 6-7 versus the Mystics (4-3 at home; 2-4 on road).
SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY! Second Annual Teddy Bear Toss this Sunday for the second year, the Storm is partnering with Warm 106.9 fm to collect bears as part of their Teddy Bear Patrol campaign which provides local police, firefighters and hospital workers with bears to use for children in emergency situations. The Storm is asking its fans to show their support for this great cause by bringing a new teddy bear to this Sunday's game vs. Washington and participating in the Teddy Bear Toss at halftime. Also this Sunday, the Storm is teaming up with The PGA of America to provide fans with a PGA Play Golf America Fan Experience. PGA Professionals from the Pacific Northwest PGA Section will give free, 10-minute lessons beginning at 5 p.m. on the KeyArena West Plaza, and a few lucky fans attending the game will be selected to participate in an on-court, golf-themed contest at halftime for the chance to play a round of golf with Storm guard Katie Gearlds.
