Mystics Sign Kendra Wecker

Washington, D.C. -The Washington Mystics have signed forward Kendra Wecker General Manager Linda Hargrove announced today. Wecker spent her entire professional career with the San Antonio Silver Stars prior to being released by the team at the beginning of the 2008 season. Washington waived Amber Jacobs to make room for Wecker on the roster.

Wecker was the fourth overall pick in the 2005 WNBA draft. She missed the 2005 season after her tearing her ACL in her first WNBA game. She returned the following season where she played the entire 34 game schedule and started 11 games. Wecker averaged 5.6 points per game and 2.5 rebounds per game. In 2007, Wecker appeared in 14 games for the Stars.

"Kendra gives us experience at the small forward position," said Hargrove. "She is a strong, versatile player that can shoot the three and compliments our present roster."

A graduate of Kansas State, Wecker earned Kodak/WBCA All-American honors and was named to the AP All-America First team as a senior. She led Kansas State to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Wecker finished her career at Kansas State as the Big 12 Conference's and Wildcats' all-time leading scorer with 2,333 career points and is the school's all-time leading rebounder with 1,087 rebounds.
