
Sky Faces Phoenix Mercury and Detroit Shock in Two-Game Homestand

CHICAGO - The Chicago Sky (3-8) returns home today from a three-game Western Conference road trip. This week, the Sky will face the defending WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury (4-7) on Thursday, June 26 at 8 p.m. and the Detroit Shock (10-3) on Saturday, June 28 at 7 p.m., both at the UIC Pavilion.
The Sky lost three tough games during the team's western swing. On Wednesday, June 19, the Sky lost 80-67 to the Los Angeles Sparks (9-3) despite an 18-point effort from Jia Perkins and 14 points and 8 rebounds from Candice Dupree. On Friday, June 20 the Mercury edged the Sky 112-105 in a close overtime game that featured 15 ties and 14 lead changes. Perkins again led the Sky in scoring with 30 points, along with a double- double from Candice Dupree, who contributed 28 points and 14 rebounds. On Sunday, June 22, the Sky fell 82-70 to the Sacramento Monarchs (6-6). Perkins scored 12 of her 22 points in the fourth quarter to get the Sky to within six, and Dupree hit her second consecutive double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
SKY VS. MERCURY HISTORY Following last week's overtime loss, the Sky is 0-1 against the Mercury in 2008, and seeks a franchise-first win against Phoenix.
SKY VS. SHOCK HISTORY The Sky finished 1-3 against the Detroit Shock in the 2007 season. On July 26, 2007 the Sky earned an 83-73 win in Detroit with 24 points and 12 rebounds from Candice Dupree.
