WASHINGTON, PA â The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, had a chance to break a Frontier League record for consecutive wins Friday night in Kalamazoo. But Kalamazoo halted the Wild Things' streak at 11 games with a come-from-behind 7-3 victory.
The Kalamazoo Kings (20-14) scored one run in the third, fourth, and fifth innings to tie the game at 3. But in the sixth inning, the Kings scored two more off of Washington reliever Ryan Hartzell, and then blew open the game in the seventh with two more runs off of Brendon Davis.
The loss drops the Wild Things to 22-11 on the season. Ryan Hartzell (1-2) took the loss and Kalamazoo's David McWatters (2-4) earned the victory. He hurled seven innings and allowed just three runs, two earned, on seven hits. Washington starter Ryan Ewin earned a no decision after pitching five innings and allowing six hits and three runs.
Washington will try to even the series Saturday night. Game time is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
