Brockton Rox News Release

BROCKTON, MA (July 26, 2007) - The Brockton Rox are pleased to announce that on Saturday night, July 28 they will celebrate "Festivus in July." "Festivus, a holiday for the rest of us" was introduced to the world on the December 18, 1997 episode of the TV show Seinfeld, in the episode "The Strike". The holiday is celebrated each year on December 23, but the Rox will celebrate its 10th anniversary on July 28, in order to avoid the holiday rush.

To commemorate the event, the Rox will pay homage to the Seinfeld show by packing the night with numerous Seinfeld references. Rox fans can track the references they spot and the fan who records the most will receive a Seinfeld collection of seasons 1 through 8 on DVD, courtesy of Vandelay Industries. There will be in excess of 100 references throughout the ballpark, on and off the field. "It will be like a Seinfeld Scavenger hunt," explained Rox Promotions Director, Bailey Frye. Steve Bowker, Food and Beverage Director for the Rox, added, "No soup for you!"

Prior to the game, families are encouraged to practice the traditional Festivus "Airing of Grievances", in which each person tells each and everyone else all the ways they've disappointed him/her over the past year. The Rox will display an unadorned aluminum Festivus Pole minus any distracting tinsel to enhance the evening.

The first 1000 fans 12 & under through the gates will receive a Rox drawstring backpack... although some might describe it as a European Carry All.

Get to Campanelli Stadium early and stay late; it will be like a Festivus Miracle.

Tickets are available now at the Rox office or by phone at (508) 559-7070.
