
Davis Sold To The Devil Rays

DURHAM, NC -- The Can-Am League announced today that the New Jersey Jackals RHP Hunter Davis had his contract sold to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Davis becomes the sixth league player purchased by a major league organization since the beginning of the 2007 season.
Davis was 1-1 with a 1.15 ERA and one save in 11 appearances for New Jersey. He struck out 13 batters in 15 2/3 innings pitched and had an opponents batting average of only .143. Before coming to the Jackals, the Crawfordville, FL resident pitched in 23 games with the Pensacola Pelicans of the American Association. There he was 2-1 with an earned run average of 1.00 and six saves in 27 innings pitched.
The 26-year-old is his third season of professional baseball. Davis spent the previous two seasons in the Frontier League with Richmond in 2005 and Traverse City in 2006.
