Montreal Alouettes News Release
Montreal - The Montreal Alouettes announced on Wednesday that international quarterback Jacory Harris signed a two-year contract with the club.
Harris (6'4'', 214 lbs.) arrives in Montreal after spending time with both the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Edmonton Eskimos. The Miami, FL native was on the Eskimos' practice roster when Alouettes General Manager Kavis Reed was serving as Edmonton's Head Coach in 2013.
The 26-year-old pivot played college football for the University of Miami from 2009 to 2011, experiencing memorable moments for the Hurricanes, him who collected 8,826 passing yards as well as 70 touchdown passes, both marks good for second in Hurricanes history. During his four-year career in the NCAA, Harris also gained 626 rushing yards, while registering five majors. He was named the Hurricanes Most Outstanding Offensive Player during his senior year with the University of Miami, setting team record for completion rate in a single season (65%), completing 195 of 300 pass attempts. He racked up a total of 2,486 passing yards and 20 touchdown passes the same year.
"Harris is a promising young pivot whom I had the opportunity to work closely with during my time in Edmonton. He caught my attention by showing great work ethic and a relentless willingness to learn and improve his game day in and day out", declared Alouettes General Manager Kavis Reed. "He has a good size and possesses the skill set to be successful in the league."
Prior to joining the CFL and after a brilliant collegiate career, he had a tryout invitation to the Miami Dolphins rookie mini-camp. He then signed as a free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles before heading to Canada.
