Tiger-Cats Sign All-Star Defensive Back Davis Through 2018

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced Wednesday that the football club has signed All-Star international defensive back Emanuel Davis to a two-year contract.

Davis, 27, was named an East Division All-Star for the second consecutive season in 2016. He started 17 games for the Tiger-Cats, registering 55 defensive tackles, two special teams tackles, two tackles for loss, five interceptions, seven pass knock downs, one forced fumble and three fumble recoveries. The 5-11, 182-pound native of Manteo, North Carolina, finished the season ranked third in CFL interceptions and was tied for fourth in fumble recoveries.

During his four-year CFL career (2013-16), Davis has appeared in 55 games with the Tiger-Cats, posting career stats of 178 defensive tackles, 24 special teams tackles, 10 interceptions (four returned for touchdowns), 28 pass knock downs, one sack and five forced fumbles. He was named a CFL All-Star in 2015 after leading the league with three interception return touchdowns (no other player had more than one) and 12 pass knock downs, and was tied for fourth overall with five interceptions.

The East Carolina University product has also played in six career CFL playoff games with Hamilton, including the 101st Grey Cup versus Saskatchewan in 2012. Prior to joining the Tiger-Cats, Davis attended training camp with the National Football League's Cleveland Browns in 2012.
