Edmonton Elks News Release
(Edmonton) - This morning, the 2015 Canadian Football League schedule was "unlocked" on Twitter.
Fans across the country were asked to tweet their pick for the 103rd Grey Cup using the hashtag #CFLschedule. After 10,000 tweets, the full schedule was released.
The Edmonton Eskimo Football Club opens its 66th season at "home" with the history-making Northern Kickoff pre-season tilt against the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Fort McMurray.
"This is an exciting schedule that aligns well with fan feedback. We have been given a nice balance between weekdays and weekends, afternoons and evenings," says Eskimo President and CEO Len Rhodes. "With the FIFA Women's World Cup at Commonwealth Stadium in June, I am very proud fans will be joining us to make history at SMS Equipment Stadium at Shell Place for Northern Kickoff - the most northern game in the history of the Canadian Football League."
The Eskimos return to Fort McMurray on Saturday June 27. This time as a visitor to the "home" team Toronto Argonauts in the regular-season opener.
The Battle of Alberta
The first of three instalments in the Battle of Alberta kicks off with the Labour Day Classic on September 7 in Calgary. The rematch returns to Commonwealth Stadium on Saturday September 12. The final regular-season matchup is Saturday October 10 in Calgary.
