2015 CFL Schedule Features New Twists and Cherished Rivalries

TORONTO -- The Canadian Football League's 2015 schedule features games on Thursday summer nights, visits to some new sites, and a celebration of some of the best rivalries in sport.
"This is today's CFL, a league bold enough to do new things, wise enough to honour our greatest traditions, and smart enough to know how to marry the two," said Jim Lawson, acting Commissioner of the CFL.
After more than 10,000 fan votes on whom they thought would win the 103rd Grey Cup, the 2015 CFL schedule was "unlocked", leading to #CFLSchedule trending nationally for most of the morning and into the early afternoon.
The schedule culminates with the 103rd Grey Cup on Sunday, November 29 at beautiful Investors Group Field in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
The regular season kicks off with the Ottawa REDBLACKS visiting the Montreal Alouettes on June 25th - the first of 10 regular season Thursday night games during the summer months.
"Building on the success of Friday Night Football on TSN, we're looking to develop Thursdays as a special property aimed at our younger fans looking for a fun social experience, in our stadiums, online, or watching with friends," said Michael Copeland, President and Chief Operating Officer of the CFL.
Friday, June 26 delivers a rematch of the 102nd Grey Cup, when the defending champion Calgary Stampeders host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
With the Toronto 2015 Pan AM and Parapan Am games dominating the sporting landscape in southern Ontario this summer, the CFL visits a brand new market: Fort McMurray, located in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, where the Toronto Argonauts will play the Edmonton Eskimos on Saturday, June 27, in the regular season opener for both teams.
Later that evening, the Saskatchewan Roughriders host their traditional rivals, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, to round out opening weekend action.
All CFL regular season games are broadcast on TSN. All Montreal Alouette games will be broadcast on RDS, with additional games being broadcast on RDS2. All playoff games, as well as the Grey Cup, are broadcast on both TSN and RDS.

The B.C. Lions and their new head coach Jeff Tedford, debut on Saturday, July 4, when they travel to Ottawa.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats host the Toronto Argonauts at Tim Hortons Field on not one but two holiday Mondays: their home opener on Monday, August 3, and the Labour Day Classic on Monday, September 7.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers visit their biggest rivals, the Saskatchewan Roughriders, on Sunday, September 6, followed by a rematch the following weekend back in Manitoba, on Saturday, September 12.
The Stampeders host the Edmonton Eskimos on Labour Day, September 7, and the Battle of Alberta resumes just a week later, on Saturday, September 12, back in Edmonton.
The Toronto Argonauts return home on Saturday, August 8 with a match-up against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The annual Canadian Football Hall of Fame Game features the Calgary Stampeders visiting Saskatchewan and the Roughriders on Saturday, August 22.
A slate of nine pre-season games kicks off June 8 with the Bombers visiting Hamilton.

With many CFL cities hosting soccer's FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015 this summer, the pre-season schedule includes the Eskimos playing in Fort McMurray, Alberta against the Roughriders, while the Lions and REDBLACKS both plan to play their final pre-season games away from their stadiums.
TSN and RDS have yet to announce their pre-season broadcast schedules.
"This is an unique summer for Canadian sports and Canadian sports venues, with the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015, the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games, and the Parapan Am Games taking place on our soil and in many of our stadiums," Lawson said.
"We welcome these opportunities for Canada and have built a schedule that accommodates them while serving our teams and our fans. We are confident this will be a tremendous year, culminating with an amazing 103rd Grey Cup in Winnipeg, Manitoba, one of Canadian football's most passionate homes."
