Calgary Stampeders News Release
The Calgary Stampeders will kick off their defence of the Grey Cup by facing the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the regular-season opener on Friday, June 26 at McMahon Stadium. The game, which kicks off at 7 p.m., is a rematch of the 102nd Grey Cup contest at Vancouver's BC Place on Nov. 30 when the Stamps won the seventh championship in franchise history with a 20-16 win over the Ticats.
The home-opener is the first of nine regular-season dates at McMahon for the Stamps in addition to a pre-season contest against the BC Lions on Friday, June 12. The slate of home games includes the customary Labour Day Classic against the Edmonton Eskimos on Monday, Sept. 7, a second visit by the Stamps' provincial rivals on Saturday, Oct. 10 and a Halloween matchup with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Saturday, Oct. 31.
One of the road games of note is the Canadian Football Hall of Fame Game at Regina's Mosaic Stadium on Aug. 22. Former Stampeders quarterback and current offensive coordinator and assistant head coach Dave Dickenson is part of this year's induction class as is former Stamps player Eddie Davis and former Calgary front-office executive Bob O'Billovich.
A special feature this season is a Monday home game against the Toronto Argonauts on July 13.
"We're excited to offer this special showcase for our fans - Monday Night Football, CFL style," said Stampeders president Gordon Norrie. "We have a very family-friendly home schedule with five games at 5 p.m. or earlier and six games in the summer including the famous Labour Day Classic.
"We join our loyal fans in looking forward to a great season as we try to repeat as Grey Cup champions."
