Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - As the Texas Brahmas wrapped up their Northeast road trip in Louisiana against Bossier-Shreveport Saturday evening, they proved special teams make an impact, winning 6-2.

The Brahmas went 3-9 on the powerplay and gave up only one goal on nine Mudbug powerplay opportunities. Texas goaltender Brett Jaeger stopped 27 of 29 shots for the night.

Bossier looked strong early, scoring the first goal in the opening period. Brahmas leading goal scorer, Anders Strome, answered with his 24th goal of the season, extending his scoring streak to 11 games. The Mudbugs took the lead back early in the second period, but Bossier was unable to stay in front as the Brahmas powerplay took advantage.

Both Scott Sheppard and Grant Jacobsen scored on the powerplay, only 32 seconds apart. Jacobsen's goal gave Texas their first lead of the night, 3-2.

Brahmas offense continued to roll in the third when forward Jordan Cameron netted a goal with less than a minute into the period. This resulted in a goalie change for Bossier with Jon DeCaro replacing Ken Carroll. Carroll stopped 12-16 shots faced. Then captain Blair Manning tested DeCaro, scoring a powerplay goal just minutes from Cameron. The goal gave Manning his fourth point of the night (1 G, 3 A).

To cap the night off, rookie Mark Carragher scored his second goal of the season, unassisted at the 17:26 mark.

Manning earned first star honors followed by Scott Sheppard (1 G, 3 A) and Craig Minard (2 A).

The Brahmas will return home tomorrow afternoon for a rematch against the Mudbugs at the NYTEX Sports Centre at 3:05 PM. For ticket information please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423 or log on to www.brahmas.com.
