Texas Legends News Release
Frisco, TX - The Texas Legends used a huge come-from-behind effort in the second half to propel the game into overtime, but fell 96-95 to the Tulsa 66ers on Saturday night at HP Court inside Dr Pepper Arena.
After winning the opening contest of the year against the 66ers, the Legends have dropped three straight contests against the minor league affiliate of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Justin Dentmon had a strong first quarter, where he scored 10 of his ___ points and continued his streak as the only Legend to have scored in double figures in every game this season.
After scoring 41 points in the opening quarter of last night's victory over Springfield, Texas scored 41 in the entire first half tonight. However, they only trailed 46-41 going into the break.
Still down by just five with eight minutes to go in the third quarter, Tulsa's Larry Owens hit back-to-back 3-pointers to start a 10-0 run, giving the 66ers their largest lead of the game at 15.
The Legends though outscored the 66ers 15-5 to finish the quarter and headed into the fourth down by only five, 67-62.
Texas would use a 12-3 spurt midway through the fourth quarter to take a 76-75 lead, their first lead since early in the first quarter.
With just 50.2 second left in the final quarter and the Legends on top 91-89, the 66ers' Tweety Carter would hit a driving layup to tie the game and send it into overtime, the second in Legends history.
The Legends would hold a 95-94 lead with 8.2 seconds to play in OT, when Carter would dive for a lose ball and draw a foul. He hit both free throws and gave Tulsa a one-point advantage.
With a chance to take the lead, Booker Woodfox missed a jumper from the right elbow and preserved the win for Tulsa
Alexander was held scoreless in the first quarter, but finished with a game-high 29 points and 10 rebounds along with his fifth consecutive double-double. Woodfox and Justin Dentmon added 20 points each.
Elijah Millsap led the way for Tulsa with 20 points and 10 boards. Five of the eight active Tulsa players scored in double-digits.
The Legends will now head to South Padre Island to take part in their first ever NBA D-League Showcase. Texas will take on the New Mexico Thunderbirds in the opening game on Monday at 4:30 p.m. and face the Iowa Energy on Thursday also at 4:30 p.m..
Great tickets for all Legends home games are still available by calling (214) 469-0822 or emailing the team at info@TexLegends.com.
