For the final home game of the regular season on Saturday, the Moose Jaw Warriors honoured the 2021-22 season's top performers during Yara Awards Night.

Carl Tetachuk only played one season with the Warriors, but he made a lasting impact, taking home two awards, including the top honour as Player of the Year.

"He's brought us a lot of wins, he's been our rock back there," Warriors General Manager Jason Ripplinger said. "There's been a lot of games where he's stole the show for us or given us a chance to win a game and I'm really happy with how he developed this year."

Tetachuk also won the Yara Belle Plain Fan's Choice award.

The 20-year-old goalie set career-best marks in wins, goals against average, save percentage, games played, minutes and saves, and also tied his career-high in shutouts with three.

"He came in and exceeded expectations," Warriors head coach Mark O'Leary said. "We knew the kind of person we had, first and foremost, he's competitive, he's profession in terms of how he prepares on and off the ice, he gave our players confidence to play their game."

After setting a new franchise record for goals by a 16-year-old, Brayden Yager was named the JGL Rookie of the Year.

In 60 games so far, Yager has 33 goals and 57 points.

The Safeway Top Defenceman award went to Captain Daemon Hunt, who has 17 goals and 39 points in 46 games this season.

Defenceman Max Wanner was named the Andy's Transmission & Automotive Most Improved Player after setting new career highs with six goals and 23 points in 55 games.

With 21 goals, 57 points and just 17 penalty minutes this season, Warriors forward Eric Alarie was awarded the C & E Mechanical Most Sportsmanlike Player award.

Moose Jaw product Atley Calvert took home the Conexus Credit Union Cody Smuk Unsung Hero award. Calvert has been matched up against the opposition's top line throughout the season, while also posting 14 goals and 39 points in 62 games this season.

16-year-old goalie Jackson Unger and 17-year-old forward Thomas Tien were honoured for their commitment to school as well as hockey as this year's recipients of the Vanier Collegiate and Moose Jaw Warriors Scholastic Achievement Award.

The Tim Hortons Top Scorer and Emerald Custom Creations Three Stars awards will be presented after the end of the regular season.

The Warriors finish the regular season with four road games, starting on Saturday in Brandon.
