Calgary, AB - The playoff race continued at the Scotiabank Saddledome with the Calgary Hitmen hosting the Swift Current Broncos, finishing the home-and- home set. Calgary came out victorious with a 5-2 score, their third win in a row. Steel Quiring and Tyson Galloway netted the first two Calgary goals in the first period giving the home team the early lead. Swift Current had an answer before the end of the first with Josh Filmon cutting the lead in half heading into the second.
The lone second period goal came from Zac Funk, who added to the highlight reel on the power play pushing past a wall of three Broncos players, netting his 19th of season. Grayden Siepmann found the back of the net on a feed from Funk to put Calgary up by three at the 5:30 mark in the third. After a perfect record on the penalty kill, Calgary gave one up to Karson King on the power play at 13:31 putting Swift Current within two. With Swift Current netminder on the bench, Trey Patterson was able to find the empty net for his first Western Hockey League goal, securing a critical two points for Calgary.
