Teddy Bear Toss Breaks Record

December 10, 2014 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Oshawa Generals News Release

On Friday, Nov. 28, 5956 fans were in attendance for the 17th Annual Teddy Bear Toss at the General Motors Centre, presented by Meineke Car Care. This very special evening happens once every year and never fails to demonstrate the spirit and generosity of Generals fans.

The Teddy Bear Toss process is simple - fans purchase a brand new teddy bear to bring to the game, after the first Generals goal is scored, fans take to their feet and throw all of the bears onto the ice. Thousands of teddy bears are thrown onto the ice and are then totalled up and delivered to a local charity. This year, all of your generous donations support the Durham Children's Aid Foundation, located right here in Oshawa.

At 8:42 in the first period, Michael Dal Colle scored the Teddy Bear Toss goal for the second consecutive year. A record 6072 bears were tossed onto the ice this year, making Christmas a little bit more special for many deserving children. The Oshawa Generals would like to thank everyone who came out to support another year of the teddy bear toss and we look forward to next year.
