Plymouth, Michigan - Team USA (10-11-1-1, 22 points) scored three goals in a span of nine minutes and 32 seconds Tuesday on the way to a 5-2 victory over the Chicago Steel (10-15-2-2, 24 points) at USA Hockey Arena. Adam Fox scored twice, including an empty net tally, to help secure the win for Team USA.

Chicago opened up the scoring at the 11:50 mark of the first period when Mitch Lewandowski sent a wrist shot past the blocker side of Team USA netminder Jake Oettinger. The goal was created by a dazzling sequence of three quick passes, as Lewandowski's feed to Jake Jaremko was then dropped off for Max Zimmer, who followed up with a perfectly-placed return to Lewandowski for the scoring opportunity. However, Team USA would pick up the pace for the rest of the period, scoring twice while limiting Chicago to just one shot on goal in the final eight minutes of the frame. Team USA's first period goals were scored by Joey Anderson, off a one-time deflection from Clayton Keller, and Adam Fox on the power play. Team USA brought a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

Each team would tally the same amount of goals in the second period. After Nick Pastujov scored the third consecutive USA goal, Steel forward Tanner Laczynski setup Brandon Duhaime for a low-slot snipe over the glove of Oettinger at 6:57. Team USA regained a two-goal lead later in the period when Trent Frederic buried a wrist shot through traffic and past Chicago goaltender John Lethemon.

Fox added an empty net goal with 1:34 remaining in the third period to seal the win, 5-2, for Team USA.

Chicago has dropped five consecutive games in regulation for the first time this season.

The Steel continue a season-long ten-game road trip with their final contest of the calendar year, a New Year's Eve showdown Thursday against the Muskegon Lumberjacks at 4:15 p.m. CST.
