Storm Scores Three Straight to Force OT, Falls to GB, 4-3

Green Bay, Wi. - The Tri-City Storm waged a three-goal comeback in the third period to tie, but Green Bay Gamblers forward Brett Gruber scored with 2:35 left in overtime at four-on-four to best the Storm, 4-3, Tuesday at the Resch Center.

Starting from the left wing, Gruber accelerated up the boards on a two-on-one before lifting the puck past Jake Kielly, who allowed one goal and made 25 saves in relief of Dayton Rasmussen.

Tory Dello, Walker Duehr and Carson Meyer scored in the first 15 minutes of the third to tie after the Gamblers scored three times in the opening period.

The Storm has 29 points this season, good for an 11-10-4-3 record and fourth place in the Western Division heading into 2016.

Tri-City's trio of goals came after it flipped 14 shots on net through two frames on Kevin Reich, who won in overtime with 26 saves.

First, Tory Dello scored one minute into the third, charging to the left wing and receiving a pass from Wade Allison for the defenseman's second of the campaign. Alex Limoges received the secondary helper.

About five minutes later, the Storm went on a 5-on-3 man advantage and did not disappoint, scoring at 8:15 of the final period on a slap shot from Walker Duehr. Joey Matthews passed the puck to Duehr, helping the forward score for the second straight contest.

Duehr has four goals in six games this season.

After seven minutes of back-and-forth attack, Nico Sturm pushed the puck to the right dot into the hands of Carson Meyer, who scored to tie the game at 15:12 of the final period.

Meyer has goals in five straight games and leads Tri-City with 14 goals and 23 points.

While the Storm came back, Jake Kielly put in his strongest relief appearance of the season, stopping 25 of 26 shots. Kielly came in for the second period after Dayton Rasmussen made five saves on eight shots in the first.

Tri-City's power play tallied for the third straight game, going 1-for-2. The Storm's penalty kill was a perfect 3-for-3, the fourth straight game Tri-City has held opponents off the board on the man up (8-for-8).

The Storm's next game is at the Lincoln Stars this Saturday, Jan. 2, at 6:45 p.m. on The Breeze 94.5 FM with David Fine for the Viaero Wireless Pregame Show. The road game is the seventh time the Storm and Stars meet this season, and Tri-City's last trip to Lincoln.
