
Lumberjacks Win in a Shootout

Muskegon, MI - (December 29th) The Muskegon Lumberjacks won a thrilling game against the Youngstown Phantoms, with a 3-2 shootout victory.
After defensive hockey in the first 17 minutes of play, Rem Pitlick was able to break through for his 15th goal of the season. It was the Lumberjacks lone power play goal, with Trevor Hamilton and goaltender Joey Daccord registering the assists.
The second period began similar to first, as both teams combined for just three shots through ten minutes of play. After several scoring chances, Colin Adams scored off a touch pass from line mate Chris Klack, to give the Lumberjacks a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes of play.
Youngstown found their stride in the third period as Tommy Apap and USHL points leader Cameron Morrison netted goals for the Phantoms to tie the game 2-2. The game remained tied after sixty minutes of play, and the Lumberjacks headed to their fourth straight overtime game.
After the overtime period did not allow a winner, the game went into a shootout, and in the seventh round of the shootout, veteran Max Humitz found the back of the net to propel the Lumberjacks to a 3-2 victory.
The Muskegon Lumberjacks (12-9-3) will return to action on Wednesday, December 30th, in Plymouth, against the United States National Team Development U17 program (10-11-2). Puck will drop at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 31st, the Lumberjacks will return home to host their New Year's Celebration against the Chicago Steel (10-15-4). Puck will drop at 5:15 p.m. as the Lumberjacks will feature their Happy Hour Special all night long!
