Worcester Tornadoes News Release

WORCESTER, MA- Help take the girls out to the ballgame! The Worcester Tornadoes are teaming up to help send the Jesse Burkett Little League Softball Majors, Juniors and Seniors Sate Championship Teams to the Eastern Regional Championships.

These girls, that range in ages from 11 to 16, do not have the same advantage as boys who advance through the little league system by not getting their expenses funded for these great accomplishments.

The cost to house each team for the tournaments is in excess of $5,000 and does not cover travel or meals. While the Jesse Burkett Little League does various fundraisers throughout the year they do not have the funds to cover such a large expense.

The Major division will travel to Albany, NY, the Junior division to Syracuse, NY and the Senior division to Easton, Maryland. "This is unbelievable to have three teams from the same league representing Massachusetts in regional tournaments," says Bobby Rousseau, Assistant Director of Administration for District Four Little League.

With this in mind, the Worcester Tornadoes will be accepting donations at their Main Office located at 303 Main Street in Worcester to help send the girls to play ball. Anyone that donates $500 or more to the cause will receive 50 flex tickets to be used at any Tornadoes game throughout this season.

These three teams will also be attending the August 24th Worcester Tornadoes game where they will be recognized on the field before the game.

For more information on how you can help be part of something that has never been done before, contact the Tornadoes at (508) 792-2288 or go to worcestertornadoes.com.
