Guye Senjem's three hits lead Brockton to 7-4 win over Sussex

AUGUSTA, NJ- DH Guye Senjem had three hits and two RBI while RHP Brad Guy fired scven solid innings on the hill as the Rox defeated the Sussex Skyhawks 7-4 at Skylands Park in Augusta, NJ. The win was the first for the Rox in six games at Skylands Park this season. Senjem hit a triple into the right field corner to give the Rox the lead just three batters into the game and Brockton never trailed. RHP Jon Koch picked up his eighth save of the season with a scoreless ninth frame. 1B Francisco Lebron and C Jason Radwan each had hits to extend their hitting streaks to nine games each. The Rox improve to 29-26 overall and 5-4 in the second half with the victory.

Senjem's triple in the first plated 2B Eugene Julien and was his first triple since April 20, 2002. Lebron followed the triple with an RBI single and the Rox led 2-0 after a half inning of play. Guy allowed a run in the first and walked two but stranded runners on after a 30 pitch inning. The Rox got the run back in the second on a SS Mike Scanzano sacrifice fly but Sussex also scored in the second on a sac fly, as the second frame ended with the Rox in front 3-2.

In the third, the Rox continued their torment of starter LHP Tim Tisch. CF Simon Williams tripled home a run for his 10th RBI of the season in just nine games. Williams has RBI in five straight contests. 3B Mike Torres's second hit of the game, a single up the middle, drove home Williams from third and gave the Rox a 5-2 lead. Senjem's third hit, an RBI single in the sixth, made it 6-2 Rox, while CF Brad Rosenblat drove home a run with a single in the seventh to make it a 7-2 game. Senjem has five hits in the series in 10 AB. Leading 7-4 in the ninth, Koch gave up two singles with one out, but picked a runner off second and got a groundout on the next pitch to preserve the Rox win.

The Rox and Skyhawks play the rubber match tomorrow at 12:05 PM. Brockton sends RHP John Kelly (7-2, 2.86 ERA) to the hill in search of his eighth win. Kelly currently is tied for the league-lead in victories. Sussex counters with RHP Lincoln Mincks (1-4, 4.29 ERA).
