Lincoln Saltdogs News Release

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Lincoln Saltdogs signed 2010 Player of the Year OF Gavin Dickey and former Marlins farmhand C Mark Wyatt Tuesday.

Dickey had a tremendous season for the 'Dogs last year, belting a career-high 17 home runs and 55 RBI while leading the club in hits, triples, total bases, and steals to earn an American Association All-Star nod as well as team Player of the Year honors. The Tallahassee, Fla. native rejoins Lincoln after a brief stint with the Atlanta Braves Class-AA affiliate in Mississippi earlier in 2011.

Dickey played a key role during the Saltdogs championship run in 2009, hitting .336 in 33 games. The athletic right-hander was originally drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 12th round in 2006. He played three-and-a-half seasons in the M's organization, reaching Class-AA.

Collegiately, Dickey played both baseball and football - as a quarterback and wide receiver - at Florida for the Gators. In 2001 he was named Gatorade Player of the Year in the Sunshine State.

Wyatt played one season for the Jamestown Jammers of the New York-Penn League after signing with the Florida Marlins in 2009. The Houston native scored seven runs and drove in three in 11 games for the short-season squad, and threw out four attempted base stealers from behind the plate.

Wyatt starred collegiately at Sam Houston State, earning 2009 Southland Conference All-Tournament Team recognition and helping the Bearkats win multiple league titles.

The 2011 Lincoln Saltdogs regular season begins on May 11 in Shreveport, with the home opener scheduled for May 24 against Kansas City. For more team and ticket information, go to www.saltdogs.com .
