GARY, Ind. - The Gary SouthShore RailCats entire 2011 Promotional Calendar is available now after the 'Cats announced Phase Seven today.
The RailCats look to build on the foundation of fun, affordable family entertainment by taking the ballpark experience to the highest level and enhancing the atmosphere and environment at U. S. Steel Yard at all 50 home games. The RailCats are bringing back a number of fan favorites, but be on the lookout for the new, exciting promotional nights and giveaways as the RailCats are Redefining Fun in 2011!
Back to School Night - Tuesday, August 23 @ 7:10 p.m. vs. Lincoln Saltdogs
School's almost out for summer but by this point Back to School fever (for parents anyway) is back in full swing and the RailCats invite you join us to celebrate one of your last days of summer with a special night of America's favorite summer activity!
Mini Night - Wednesday, August 24 @ 7:10 p.m. vs. Lincoln Saltdogs
The RailCats invite you to join us as we remember the little people and little things that often get overlooked in our world. The 'Cats will feature music from your favorite 'Lil artists including Kim, Bow Wow, and Wayne and U. S. Steel Yard will be covered with tons of "mini" items!
One Hit Wonder - Thursday, August 25 @ 7:10 p.m. vs. Lincoln Saltdogs
Join the RailCats as we celebrate some of the biggest fads and one-hit wonders this country has ever known. Fads have come to typify periods of time in popular culture over the 20th century and emerged in the 1950's, 1960's and 1970's with the coming of the Hula Hoop, Telephone Booth Stuffing, Bellbottoms, Platforms Shoes, Mood Rings and the Pet Rock. The 1980's and 1990's are represented as well with the Rubik's Cube, Beanie Babies, Tickle Me Elmo and the Hacky Sack. Music on this night will be exclusively of the one-hit wonder variety including favorites such as the Baha Men, Sir Mix-a-Lot, the Crash Test Dummies, Chumbawamba, Eifel 65 and many more!
Myron Noodleman Appearance and Revenge of the Nerds Night - Friday, August 26 @ 7:10 p.m. vs. Lincoln Saltdogs
You may have seen this hip nerd at another ballpark or numerous times on ESPN highlights. Now, here is your chance to see the hilarious Myron Noodleman LIVE for the first time in Northwest Indiana! Myron Noodleman will rock the house with routines that fans of all ages will love. Whether he is wildly dancing on the dugout, boogying with the umpires and players, or being the ultimate goofball in the stands, Myron Noodleman is guaranteed to make you laugh! Time has also come for the Revenge of the Nerds at U. S. Steel Yard as pocket protectors, suspenders and calculators take over the ballpark. Jocks beware, nerds and geeks alike have free reign on this night!
Hockey Puck Giveaway and Chicago Hockey Night - Saturday, August 27 @ 6:10 p.m. vs. St. Paul Saints
Enjoying the NHL playoffs right now' Well, mark your calendar for next hockey season as the RailCats honor our two neighbors in the professional hockey world. In addition, the first 1,000 fans entering the ballpark on this night will receive a free hockey puck thanks to our friends at NIEMI Associates and the Post-Tribune.
Get Weird Night - Sunday, August 28 @ 2:10 p.m. vs. St. Paul Saints
The highlight of this night will be a weird talent contest at U. S. Steel Yard with special prizes going to the fans with the most unique talents. Can you wiggle your ears like Alfalfa' Are you a human calculator' Whatever your talent is, now's your chance to show off to win fabulous prizes!
Michael Jackson Night - Monday, August 29 @ 7:10 p.m. vs. St. Paul Saints
We pay tribute to the late King of Pop, Gary native Michael Jackson, on his birthday. U. S. Steel Yard was the site of a large memorial service in 2009 and actually hosted Jackson early in the park's history. Today, we share our memories as you share yours, and you'll be sure to hear the greatest hits blaring throughout the park all night.
Fan Appreciation Night - Tuesday, August 30 @ 7:10 p.m. vs. St. Paul Saints
It's the last regular season home game of the 2011 season, and tonight's all about YOU. Loads of giveaways, contests for big prizes and a final salute to the best fans in the American Association make tonight's game one not to miss.
