Manchester Monarchs News Release

MANCHESTER, NH – Dave Taylor, the Senior Vice President/General Manager of the Los Angeles Kings, will headline this year's list of celebrities when the Manchester Monarchs, the top affiliate of the Kings, hold their third annual Ace Bailey Golf Classic at the Manchester Country Club in Bedford, New Hampshire, on Monday, June 21. The Monarchs Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Monarchs, will host this year's tournament with proceeds from the event earmarked for the new pediatric treatment area at Catholic Medical Center. The Ace Bailey Golf Classic is held annually to honor the memory of Garnet "Ace" Bailey, who served as the Kings Director of Pro Scouting until his death on September 11, 2001. Bailey was a passenger aboard United Flight 175 and was lost in the tragic events of the day.

Taylor, an original member of the Kings Hall of Fame, is solely responsible for the Kings hockey operations department, and has implemented a long-term, ‘build-from-within' player development strategy and plan that has helped make the Kings one of the model franchises in the National Hockey League.

On the ice, the Kings selected Taylor, an All-America hockey player while at Clarkson University, in the 15th round (210th overall) of the 1975 NHL Entry Draft. His grit and work ethic blended nicely with the legendary Marcel Dionne, who helped ignite Taylor's 17-year career. As a member of the renowned "Triple Crown" line with Dionne and left wing Charlie Simmer, Taylor became a prolific scorer who also packed a fearsome check. Taylor's NHL career statistics include a franchise-record 1,111 games, plus 431 goals, 638 assists and 1,069 points.

In addition to Taylor, the list of celebrities expected to appear at this year's event includes: Kings Director of Player Personnel Bill O'Flaherty, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough, Monarchs Head Coach Bruce Boudreau, Monarchs Assistant Coach Jim Hughes, 2003-04 Monarchs Sam Ftorek, Jeff Giuliano, Doug Nolan and Richard Seeley, and former Monarchs Derek Bekar and Eric Healey. Former and current hockey greats like Steve Kasper, Steve Leach, Don Marcotte, Rick Middleton, Brad Park, Scott Pellerin and Bob Sweeney are also scheduled to attend, along with University of New Hampshire Head Coach Dick Umile, Boston College Head Coach Jerry York and former Boston Bruins and current Albany River Rats Head Coach Robbie Ftorek.

For more information on how to participate or how to become a tournament sponsor, contact Cheryl Abbott, the Monarchs Director of Community Relations, at (603) 626-7825, extension 6102 or visit the Monarchs on-line at www.monarchshockey.com.
