Mike Reeder Named New Cincy Area High School Coach

June 8, 2004 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Cincinnati RailRaiders News Release

Mike Reeder, director of ice sales for the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, has been named head coach of Moeller High School's varsity ice hockey team.

A graduate of Norwood High School and Unversity of Cincinnati, Reeder will be entering his 12th season as a coach at the amateur hockey level. Last season he coached Moeller's junior varsity team, leading the squad to its best ever record at 22-10-1.

Reeder will be joined behind the Crusaders bench by Yvon Desfosses, who started the Moeller hockey program in 1983 and served as head coach in the inaugural season, and varsity assistant coaches Chris Chalifoux and Greg Macksood. Jeff Evans has been named to replace Reeder has head coach for the junior varsity squad and will be assisted by Nathan Jordan.

"I'm looking forward to the challenge of coaching Moeller's varsity squad," Reeder said. "The players are going to learn some lessons and become better hockey players and better people for it. We want our players to be in the community, helping people that need help and growing up as men."

Reeder's connection with the Mighty Ducks organization brings another element to the hockey program at Moeller. Fundraising opportunities through the Mighty Ducks will allow the players to reduce fees while supporting AHL hockey in Cincinnati. Mighty Ducks coaches and players will also be assisting the Moeller coaching staff at select practices.

"We want our players to watch the Mighty Ducks play as often as possible," Reeder said. "If you watch good hockey, then you will play good hockey. The AHL is definitely the second best league in the world and our players can learn a lot just by watching and being around the players and coaches."

For information on Moeller High School Hockey as well as on ice rental at Cincinnati Gardens and the Ducks Skating Center, call Mike Reeder at (513) 351-3999, ext. 236.
