
Tarpley Steadies to Lift Power to 7-2 Win

(Charleston, W.V. - July 18, 2015) - The West Virginia Power rallied once again to defeat the Lexington Legends 7-2 on Saturday night at Appalachian Power Park. Trailing 1-0 after a half inning, the Power scored seven straight runs and Stephen Tarpley was sharp in the victory.
Wander Franco's RBI double gave Lexington an early lead but the Power tied the game in the bottom of the first. With Cole Tucker on third, Jordan Luplow hit a groundout to second to plate Tucker and tie the game.
West Virginia took the lead in the second inning. With the bases loaded, Taylor Gushue hit a sac fly to center to give the Power the lead and Trace Tam Sing followed with a double to plate Chase Simpson.
The Power scored two more times in the fourth and added their final two runs in the seventh. Simpson hit a triple to center to plate Suiter and Gushue followed with his second sac fly of the night to plate Simpson. In the seventh inning, Luplow crushed a two-run home run to left. Luplow's seventh home run of the season gave the Power a 7-1 lead.
Tarpley (7-2) was stellar for West Virginia and earned the victory. The lefty went six innings and allowed one run on five hits while striking out a season-high eight batters. Corey Ray (2-5) suffered the loss for Lexington. Power reliever Sam Street earned a three-inning save. It was Street's second save of the season.
West Virginia (16-7, 53-39) continues the four-game set on Sunday afternoon against Lexington (10-10, 41-49). LHP John Sever (3-2, 3.60) will take the mound for West Virginia against RHP Scott Blewett (2-2, 4.07). First pitch is set for 2:05 p.m. while pregame on Charleston's ESPN Radio 104.5 FM and 1490, the Power website, and the TuneIn Radio App is slated for 1:45 p.m.
Saturday night saw the Power welcome in 5,040 fans including its two-millionth fan to Appalachian Power Park. Five-year-old Harley Davis-Boyle from Hurricane won a prize package including two 2016 Power full-season season tickets, four tickets to the Pirates and Giants game on August 22, four tickets and a luxury suite at PNC Park on August 23, a Power cap, and a personalized journey.
Sunday's game is a Kids Sunday Funday at Appalachian Power Park. Prior to the game, kids can play catch on the field from 1:00-1:20 p.m. After the game, all kids can run the bases and select Power players will be available for a postgame autograph session.
