
Tajon Buchanan Called in to Canada Men's National Team for September's World Cup Qualifiers

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - New England Revolution midfielder Tajon Buchanan has been called in to the Canada Men's National Team for three upcoming FIFA Men's World Cup Qualifying matches. Buchanan will join Canada to open the final round of Concacaf qualifying action at home against Honduras on Sept. 2 (Paramount+, and NBC Universo), away at the United States on Sept. 5 (FS1, UniMas, and TUDN), and away at El Salvador on Sept. 8 (Paramount+ and NBC Universo).
Buchanan, 22, has earned all nine of his senior caps in 2021 as he receives his third call up to the Canada Men's National Team this year. The Brampton, Ontario native previously featured in four World Cup qualifying games in June before playing in all five of Canada's matches at the 2021 Gold Cup, where he was named the tournament's Best Young Player and a Best XI selection. For his international career, Buchanan owns one goal and three assists, including a two-assist performance for Les Rouges in his senior-team debut on June 6 vs. Aruba.
Earlier this week, Buchanan completed his transfer to reigning Belgian champions Club Brugge KV. He will remain with the Revolution on loan through the remainder of 2021 before joining the UEFA Champions League side in January.
In MLS, Buchanan is enjoying a career year with six goals and four assists, both personal bests, through 17 games played. The owner of 50 MLS appearances, the third-year pro has totaled eight goals and eight assists in his career, including one additional tally in the playoffs during the club's run to the 2020 Eastern Conference Final.
The New England Revolution, currently atop the MLS Supporters' Shield and Eastern Conference standings, return to action this Saturday, August 28 against New York City FC at Yankee Stadium. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET on TV38, myRITV, 98.5 The Sports Hub, and 1260 AM Nossa Radio.
