Boise Hawks News Release

PASCO, Wash. - Former first-round draft pick Peter Tago tossed five innings of three-hit ball helping the Tri-City Dust Devils complete a three-game sweep of the Boise Hawks, winning 6-4, before a record crowd of 3,826 fans at Gesa Stadium.

It marked the seventh straight road loss for the Hawks as Boise fell to 1-10 on the road in 2012.

Tago struck out five men and walked one to pick up his first win of the season, battling after a rocky first inning. An RBI single by Jeimer Candelario gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead, but with runners at first and third, the righty fanned Willson Contreras and Rock Shoulders to get out of trouble.

Tri-City batted around in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good, as Francisco Sosa tripled to deep center to score Charlie Blackmon to tie the score, scoring on a Miguel DeLeon single to make it 2-1. With the bases loaded, a Candelario error on an Anthony Aguilera grounder plated DeLeon to make it 3-1.

It would stay that way till the seventh, when Blackmon doubled with two outsand scored on a Kyle Von Tungeln single.

Leading 6-1 in the ninth, Boise made it interesting, loading the bases with no outs. Stephen Bruno would score on a passed ball and Shoulders would double home a pair. However, Andrew Brown would get pinch hitter Chadd Krist to fly out to the wall in left to end the game.

Patrick Hutcheson went 2-for-4 in the win for the Dust Devils, with reliever Eric Federico retiring all nine men he faced. Candelario went 2-for-3 in the loss for the Hawks, with Rafael Diplan tossed three shutout innings, lowering his ERA to 0.61.

The two teams head to Boise for a three-game series starting tomorrow at 7:35 p.m., with Willengton Cruz meeting T.J. Oakes.

NOTES - Candelario and Shoulders each extended their hit streaks to four games in the loss...pitcher Joe Zeller was promoted following last night's game to Class A Peoria, where he threw five innings of two-run ball in a Chiefs 6-1 loss in Kane County...former Hawk Darin Downs became the 95th former Boise player to see action in the Major Leagues, tossing a scoreless ninth inning in Detroit's 6-4 loss to Minnesota.
