EVERETT, Wash. - The AquaSox held on to beat the Emeralds, 5-4, taking two out of three games. The Sox allowed a solo home run in the eighth inning and another run in the ninth, but survived to improve to 15-4 on the season.

The reigning Northwest League Player of the Week, Alfredo Morales, went 3-for-3 to record his third multi-hit game in a row and extend his hitting streak to 10 games. The Dominican Republic native raised his batting average to .304 and now owns the second-highest average on the team.

Right-hander Dylan Unsworth (3-0, 3.42 ERA) pitched well until the fifth inning when he walked three batters to allow the Em's to score their first two runs of the game. Center fielder Mike Faulkner prevented further damage by making a spectacular catch over his shoulder to record the third out of the inning and leave two runners stranded on base.

Unsworth's night ended after six innings, finishing with a line of two runs off three hits and four walks while striking out six.

The Frogs struck first in the game, putting three runs on the scoreboard in the first inning. The Emeralds almost got out of the inning with just one run allowed, but right fielder Corey Adamson dropped a two-out fly ball by Patrick Kivlehan, scoring one Frog on the play and keeping the inning alive to allow another run.

Eugene starter Will Scott (1-2, 5.00 ERA) gave up five runs in four innings to earn the loss, but just two runs were earned as the Em's defense committed three errors behind him.

Kivlehan recorded his second multi-hit game in a row and now has twelve hits in his last nine games; the fourth-round draft pick out of Rutgers University raised his average to .284.

The AquaSox travel to Eugene Wednesday for another three games with the Emeralds and finish the road trip against the Canadians in Vancouver. The Sox return home Wednesday, July 11 to face the Tri-City Dust Devils.
