Tacoma Rainiers News Release
TACOMA, Wash. - Another year of sustained growth placed the Tacoma Rainiers among the Top 25 teams in licensed merchandise sales for 2017, Minor League Baseball announced on Monday. This is the third consecutive year the Rainiers have ranked in the Top 25, a franchise first.
Rainiers licensed merchandise sales grew 13 percent from 2016 to 2017 to once again secure their spot among the Top 25. Prior to the franchise's current three-year run in the Top 25 from 2015-2017, Tacoma's only other venture onto the list came in 1999.
"We set a trend in Tacoma three years ago when we rebranded the franchise and formally introduced the standalone 'R' logo," Team President Aaron Artman said. "Since then the community has embraced the brand as their own and now everywhere you go in the region you see our apparel. We have stuck with our identity throughout numerous industry trends, and it has paid off."
Rainiers branded hats - which along with men's apparel make up 70 percent of the club's merchandise sales - have continued to connect with the Tacoma community. Since the Cheney Stadium Team Store opened in 2011, the Rainiers have gone from offering two hat styles to the 115 currently offered. Over that same span, hat sales have grown 245 percent.
Tacoma catapulted their sales into the Top 25 with a revitalized brand prior to the 2015 season. The brand overhaul included a new set of logo marks and additions to the club's uniform set. An updated version of the team's script logo became the primary logo mark, while a long-standing fan-favorite, the standalone "R" logo, became the team's secondary mark. Since the rebrand, Rainiers licensed merchandise sales have grown 118 percent.
The Cheney Stadium Team Store is open on game days from 11 a.m. through the end of the game, and on non-game days from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Merchandise can also be purchased through club's online team store.
The Rainiers return home to Cheney Stadium for a seven-game homestand beginning on Wednesday, August 1 at 7:05 p.m. PT. Tickets for the entire homestand are available to purchase over the phone at 1-800-745-3000 or online at TacomaRainiers.com.
All season ticket options, group outings, and suite packages for the club's 2018 season are available now and can be purchased by calling the Tacoma Rainiers front office today at (253) 752-7707. Single-game tickets can be purchased over the phone at 1-800-745-3000 or online at TacomaRainiers.com.
